7 Reasons to apply for a Working Holiday Visa to Canada

Have you been thinking of going overseas for a holiday to Canada but it just seems too costly? Well then the Working Holiday Visa may be for you. This is your chance to experience a new country on holiday while still earning enough money to enjoy yourself for up to 12 months! Immerse yourself in a new culture, meet new people and experience Canada in all of its glory. If you need more convincing, we have highlighted the top 7 reasons to get a Working Holiday Visa.

1. Travel the world

This may seem like an obvious reason, but this type of visa can open doors to a whole new world. You will be able to journey to a new country, experience their lifestyle, their culture and even enjoy new foods and activities. Traveling through Canada, you will be able to see some of the most impressive landscapes and the most fascinating of cultural and historical sites.

2. This getaway is sustainable

Most holidays leave you feeling penniless, but a working holiday visa will give you access to jobs in a wide variety of industries while you explore your new home. Some visitors tend to work for the first few months and then spend the rest of the time travelling, while others prefer to work throughout their stay. Whichever way you decide to spend your time in Canada, the Working Holiday Visa gives you direct access to a wealth of interesting jobs and an incredible holiday at the same time.

3. Makes for a good holiday with structure

You could spend your time drinking and partying while on holiday, or you can add some structure to your days with a job. You don’t necessarily have to have a full-time job, but gaining some type of skill and earning money to sustain your new lifestyle has no downside.

4. Try something new with a different job

Most people assume that a working holiday visa is just for ski instructors and coffee baristas, but that’s not the end of the possibilities. There are many options available to you, and who knows, if you enjoy Canada and you are offered a permanent position, you may end up staying for longer. The first step is deciding exactly where you want to be for your first Canadian job. Each province offers something a little different, from the oil industry in Alberta, to the booming tourism industry in Toronto, there are many opportunities out there. If you want a challenging environment, mixed in with an adrenaline rush, then the slopes of Whistler may be for you. The many hotels and ski slopes, mean that they are always looking for new employees.

You may even want to get some more experience in your own field of interest with an internship or paid work placement

5. Meet new people

This is the perfect opportunity to meet new people and create lasting friendships. In these lines of work, you will meet many foreigners, but the locals are your key to really understanding the Canadian way of life. They will be able to show you the best spots, expose you to new experiences and give you great advice. Hopefully you will cultivate some personal relationships that will encourage you to return for another holiday.

6. Learn about new cultures and interests

This is your chance to really put yourself out there and try something different. Canada, like any country that you may choose, has its own way of doing things. We suggest you try watching an ice-hockey game, get into the spirit of Canada day and maybe even try maple syrup and poutine (French fries topped with cheese and gravy). You can take your new-found knowledge of Canadian culture back home and maybe share it with your family and friends.

7. It’s great for your résumé

International experience can really get an employer to sit up and listen. You have experienced a new culture, have shown some independence and have a global perspective.
