THE THIRD EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW OF 2017 BREAKS NEW GROUND

In the latest Express Entry draw conducted on January 25, 2017, candidates were required to have a Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) of 453 or more in order to be issued with an Invitation to Apply (ITA). In this latest draw, 3,508 candidates were issued with an ITA and this continues the recent trend of an increase in the number of ITAs issued and the decrease in CRS points required.

Since the Express Entry immigration system was introduced over two years ago, January 2017 has seen more ITAs issued than in any other month. The January 25 draw is the biggest in the history of the Express Entry.

For candidates who received an ITA, they may now submit an application for Canadian permanent residence to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The applicant is also allowed to bring along their family members including spouses or common-law partners, and dependent children.

The eligible candidates are required to create a profile which is submitted to the Express Entry pool. Once their profile has been successfully created candidates are given a CRS score which helps determine their ranking in the pool. The IRCC through its regular draws will then issue candidates with an ITA.

Last November, a number of improvements and changes were introduced to the Express Entry immigration system aimed at allowing more candidates to be invited to apply based on their human capital, skills, and experience.
