1. OVO Fest
Drake is one of the most acclaimed artists in current day hip hop and R&B, and OVO Fest’s sold-out venue is a reflection of that every year since 2010. This year, OVO Fest takes place on 1 August at Budweiser stage in Toronto and is priced at $200 and up if you plan on adding this to your itinerary before you start your Canadian visa application to travel to Canada.
2. Caribana Toronto
With its roots in 1967, the Caribana Toronto has grown significantly to become one of Canada’s most popular events. Going from three days to a full out three-week celebration, Caribana sets Toronto alight each year through a celebration of Caribbean heritage. This year, the main celebration takes place from Thursday 30 July to Sunday 2 August. It comprises a multitude of events, parties, and cruises.
3. Metro Metro Festival in Quebec
One of Canada’s biggest music festivals takes place in Quebec from May 15-17. Although the lineup for 2020 has not been announced yet, if last year’s performances are anything to go by, it’s gonna be a pretty good time. The likes of Cardi B, Snoop Dogg, and Future were amongst the star-studded line-up for last year’s event. 4. Winnipeg Folk Festival
The Winnipeg Folk Festival has undoubtedly earned its stripes following over 40 years on the scene and an annual attendance of over 60,000 visitors. 5. Escapade 2020
If electronic music is more your thing, you’re going to want to check out the Escapade festival on June 20-21 while travelling through Canada. Taking place at the Rideau Carlton Raceway in Ottawa, the festival announced headliners like Don Diablo and Martin Garrix for their 2020 lineup.
6. Chasing Summer
Chasing Summer is the biggest EDM festival in Western Canada and takes place over two days. Find yourself making the most out of summer during the first two days of August at the Max Bell Centre in Alberta.
7. Ottawa Bluesfest
The Ottawa Bluesfest is an event that spans a 10 day period between the 9th and the 19th of July. Unlike the name may indicate, this is not a blues festival but actually encompasses a range of different genres that happen to include the blues. The festival has gathered a lot of support during its twenty plus years and takes place at LeBreton Flats.
8. Indie Week
Indie Week is a festival aimed at celebrating independent artists and takes place at a range of different venues in Toronto. The tentative dates are from November 11-15th so look out for more announcements on the official page.
9. Boots and Hearts
Burls Creek is home to the annual Boots and Hearts festival that has people turning out in the thousands. This year, the event takes place between the 6th and 9th of August. Gather your camping equipment and head to Burls Creek to experience the best that country music has to offer.
