Outdoor Activities

Canada is the perfect country to get outdoors and enjoy the unique landscape, while breathing in the fresh mountain air and reveling in the peace and quiet. There are many outdoor services and supply stores across Canada that can help you get the right gear for your outdoor adventure.

National parks

If you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then we suggest taking a trip to one of the many historic and beautiful national parks across Canada. You can take a picnic along for a day trip, or pack for a stay in one of the camping spots along the river, but always remember to bring your camera along!

Banff National Park

1 Hour outside of Calgary in Alberta, is the incredible Banff National Park. This 6,641 square kilometre piece of land is nestled into the heart of the Canadian Rockies. Millions of people come through to the park every year to enjoy the snow-capped mountains, hiking along Lake Louise, white water rafting and mountain climbing. If you want to relax for a few days, there are many resorts, boutique guesthouses and inns around the park.

One of Canada’s smallest parks, Fundy National Park is an unspoiled haven, only disturbed by hikers and cyclists who want to explore the dense forests and moss-covered pathways.

Winter activities

You may think that winter snow and cold temperatures offer the perfect opportunity to stay indoors by the fireplace, but this is actually your chance to enjoy the Canadian winter with plenty of fun activities to keep you entertained all day long.

Skate along the Rideau Canal

Situated in Ottawa, the Rideau Canal starts at the foot of the parliament buildings and runs for 8 kilometres through the city. In winter, this iconic river freezes over and the residents of Ottawa take to the ice with their families to go ice-skating and skiing. Organised ice hockey games are played daily and some people even ice-skate to work.

Winter zip lining

What is more exhilarating than flying through the air, high above the trees on a zip lining course? Now you can experience this activity in the winter with a trip above the snow and ice of some of the most beautiful forests in Canada. One of the best places to visit for this activity is Marble Mountain in Newfoundland.

This physical activity is extremely popular in Canada and with so many lakes and rivers running through major cities and towns, it is easy to see why.

The most popular run is the Rideau Canal which winds its way through the city of Ottawa and into the mountains for over 190 kilometres.
