Comprehensive Ranking System: What is it?

The CRS is a system used by the Canadian government to determine the eligibility of applicants to the Express Entry system for permanent residency in Canada. Our CRS score calculator is essentially an Express Entry calculator as it bases scores on the Canadian government's criteria for determining which Express Entry applicants can best fulfill the growing needs of Canada. Our CRS calculator is based entirely on the standards the Government of Canada outlined.


Applicants are assessed out of 1200 points on their:

  • Core human capital factors (500 points);
  • Accompanying spouse or common-law factors (50 points);
  • Skill transferability factors (100 points); and
  • Links to Canada like:
  • A provincial Nomination (600 points)
  • Arranged employment (200 points)
  • Canadian Study experience (30 points)
  • A sibling in Canada (15 points)
  • French language ability (50 points)
