What is the Comprehensive Ranking System?

The CRS is a system used by the Canadian government to rank eligible candidates in the Express Entry pool for permanent residency in Canada. Our CRS score calculator is essentially an Express Entry calculator, designed to help you estimate your score using the Canadian government’s assessment criteria.


Starting on November 3, 2026, the CRS will feature a new Labour Market Integration component which will give out points based on either having Canadian work experience—with additional points for experience in eligible high-wage occupations—or on having a qualifying job offer for an eligible high-wage occupation. You will take the higher of the two scores, not both.


Applicants are assessed on their:

  • Core human capital factors;
  • Accompanying spouse or common-law partner factors;
  • Skill transferability factors;
  • Labour Market Integration factor, from November 3, 2026: Canadian work experience or a qualifying high-wage job offer; and
  • Additional factors such as:
  • A provincial nomination (600 points);
  • Canadian study experience (up to 30 points);
  • An eligible sibling in Canada (15 points);
  • Ability in French (up to 50 points).
