Canada has three main working holiday visa options to consider before you apply for a Canadian working holiday visa under the International Experience Canada (IEC) Program. Candidates from over 30 different countries, who have an agreement with the Canadian government, are encouraged to apply for an IEC work permit to fund their vacation while gaining valuable work experience.

The 3 IEC categories are:
1. Working Holiday Program
This is the most popular options among travellers heading to Canada as it is flexible when it comes to maintaining a work-life balance. With this option, you can get an open work permit, which allows you to work anywhere in Canada at your own pace for as long as you like.
2. Young Professionals Program
This program is for secondary graduates looking to gain work experience in Canada. This option requires a job offer from a Canadian employer and will allow you to work in Canada for 12-24 months with the added option of extending if your Canadian employer wishes to keep you on board.
3. International Co-op Internship Program
This program is great for students enrolled in a post-secondary institution in their home country, looking for work experience in Canada. This program is similar to the Working Holiday Program, however, there is less leeway due to the fact that it requires a job offer and is generally only valid for 12 months.
