Alberta Express Entry Invites Another 197
Alberta is one of Canada’s 11 participating provinces in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). A lot of these streams offered by this program are linked to Express Entry which means that applicants who are already enrolled in the Express Entry system can wait for a Notification of Interest (NOI) or submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province or territory of their choice. While applications are still processed in as little as six months, applicants applying through the province for a nomination still need to meet crucial labour market shortages and intend to settle in that particular region to be found eligible.
This is the 7th draw to happen through the Alberta Express Entry stream in 2019 with a total of 3, 554 invites issued. These Express Entry-linked streams really boost the total amount of invitations issued through the federal programs. This is all in an effort to welcome over a million immigrants into the national workforce within the next three years. Read below to find out how these successful candidates started their Canada visa application through Express Entry.
This draw took place on 15 May 2019 and invited 197 candidates with the lowest CRS score standing at 301. The Alberta Express Entry-linked stream is known for being one of the easiest provinces to be considered in because the minimum required score is only 300. This is far lower than the lowest score seen this year in the main Express Entry draws which was 438.
Those looking to start their Canadian visa application through the Alberta Express Entry-linked stream do not need to be working in crucial occupation nor do they need to have obtained a job offer from a local employer. Although, having these as well as a degree from a Canadian university as well as a close relative in Canada can aid in the success of your application.
Below are some examples of 10 occupations that are often in demand in the province of Alberta. If you match one of these, you will have a higher chance of successfully achieving permanent residence in the province.

Provincial Nominee Program
The PNP was designed to address specific labour market shortages happening in the provinces and territories locally. These crucial occupations are each catered to in individual streams with some, like Alberta, offering Express Entry options.

What is the Express Entry?
The Canadian federal government made changes to three popular immigration programs in 2015 by putting them in a fast-track system called Express Entry. These programs are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class. This system processes applications in as little as six months.
In order to apply for one of these programs is to create an online profile through Express Entry, detailing your background in a profile. If found eligible by the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), the profile will be entered into the Express Entry pool with other candidates. Each profile is given a score according to the background information that was given and the highest-scoring profiles are then selected from the pool in draws (that typically happen every two weeks) and issued with an Invitation to Apply (ITA).
CRS Criteria Awards Points For:
- CLB Language proficiency (English and French)
- Level of Education (In and outside Canada)
- Work Experience (In and outside Canada)
- Arranged employment
- Provincial Nomination achieved
- Siblings living in Canada as permanent residents/citizens
- Your spouse’s profile (if married)
Improving Your Score
There are quite a few ways that you can improve your score, starting by improving your language skills, getting better qualified (in and outside of Canada), gaining further work experience (in and outside of Canada) and obtaining a job offer in one of the crucial occupations. However, the best way to effectively guarantee your success would be to get a nomination from a PNP stream, which adds 600 points. It must be noted that candidates in the Express Entry pool can apply for any of the streams to achieve this, including those not linked to the federal programs.
