Canada Invites Record Breaking 4,500 in Latest Express Entry Draw!

In the latest Express Entry draw held on February, 19, Canada saw the largest amount of ITAs (Invitations to Apply) for permanent residency since it's launch in 2015. 

A record breaking 4,500 Express Entry applicants received ITAs with CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) cut off scores of 470, a 2 point drop from the last draw held on February 5! 

On average, most draws invite roughly 3,300 to 3,600 foreign skilled workers per draw, which usually takes place every 2 weeks. This is a significant increase, which foes to show just how serious the Canadian government is about making good on their aim to invite over 1.3 million newcomers to Canada by 2021.

This latest draw has brought the total number of ITAs issued in 2020 to 14,800, making the goal of inviting 340,000 skilled workers to Canada in 2020 an extremely achievable one .

What is the Express Entry Draw and How Do I Apply?

The Express Entry Draw is a system, designed to streamline the immigration process by assisting candidates in their Canadian visa application for permanent residency. It manages 3 main federal economic immigration programs aimed at assisting skilled foreign worker who want to live and work in Canada and get permanent residence status. In order to qualify for the Express Entry system, which can be processed by the Canadian government in as little as 6 months, you will need to meet the requirements of one of the following immigration programs:

Express Entry Minimum Requirements
Meet the requirements of at least one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs:
  • Federal Skilled Worker Program;
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program; or
  • Canadian Experience Class

Please note that each stream has its own set of criteria and is ranked differently to the Express Entry system.

|n order to apply take the Express Entry route, you will need to create a profile with information about yourself such as your age, language abilities (French and /or English), education, ability to adapt to Canadian life and work experience (if applicable but not necessary). You will then be ranked according to the CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) and given a CRS score.

Your profile is then entered into draw pool and if your CRS score matches or is higher than that particular Express Entry draw's CRS cut off score, you will receive an ITA to apply for permanent residency in Canada

The best part is that once you've created your profile, you can always improve your CRS score and your profile, which is valid for 1 year, will automatically entered into each Express Entry draw.
