2019 Express Entry Round Up
The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 49,000 Invitations To Apply (ITAs) for permanent residency to Express Entry candidates this year! There have been 15 draws that have taken place in 2019 so far, of which only one had a single entry draw where only Federal Skilled Trades Program applicants received ITAs.
Admissions targets for 2019 and 2020 have been set much higher than in 2018, with this year’s numbers forecast to overtake that of last year. As the IRCC ramps up the number of invitations issued to achieve its economic immigration goal and the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) cut-off threshold is expected to decrease as the year progresses, it seems that now is the most opportune time to get those visa submissions in.
Canada’s immigration department has committed to increasing the number of accepted applicants through the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class to approximately 256,000 over the forthcoming years. It also aims to assist an additional 200,000 new permanent residents in the immigration process via the Provincial Nominee Program by the end of 2021.
The Express Entry Draw has not only opened up avenues for those wanting to apply for permanent residency but has helped to make the process much more efficient. Learn more about ways to improve your chances in the upcoming draw, by visiting our blog.

The Express Entry System
The Express Entry System is the most popular way for candidates to immigrate to Canada. It has made the immigration process quicker and easier, helping thousands of skilled foreign workers obtain permanent residency in Canada since its inception in 2015. The 3 programs that fall under the Federal Economic Immigration Program are the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.
How Do I Apply?
When applying via the Express Entry System, online profiles need to be created by all applicants. These profiles contain information such as your employment history, skills, education, age and so on. There are also certain criteria which must be met in order to be considered eligible to be entered into an Express Entry Draw Pool. Draws usually occur every second week, but this may change from time to time. In these draws, you will be measured against other applicants based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which awards points according to the information supplied in your online profile. If you are successful, you will receive an “Invitation to Apply”(ITA), which must be completed within 6 months of receipt.
There are many ways to boost your chances of being successful in the immigration process, but perhaps one of the most effective ways is to secure a Provincial Nomination (PN), which, if attained, would more than likely guarantee receiving an ITA.
