Express Entry Draw CRS Drops Further
The latest Express Entry draw invited yet another 3,350 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Canada. What makes this draw significant is that the required Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score has dropped even further to 450. This has been the fourth CRS drop since February and we expect that it will continue to do so with the coming draws of 2019.
This year will see the most Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence in Canada issued through the Express Entry system since its inception! Seeing as Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) plans to welcome over 1,3 million new immigrants to Canada by 2021, it is certain that this year is the best time to start your own Express Entry application. Find out more about the latest draw, the requirements and how you can get our own ITA below.
First Express Entry Draw For May 2019
Express Entry draws usually take place once every two weeks and this draw marks the first one of May 2019. The draw issued 3,350 ITAs meaning 3,350 potential immigrants can now apply to become permanent residents of Canada and, perhaps, eventual citizens of The Great White North.
The minimum CRS cut-off score for this draw was set at 450, which is a one-point drop from the previous draw held on April 17. Notably, it marks the fourth consecutive drop of the year and thus continues with the trend we predicted for the year.
The tie-break rule was used for this draw. The timestamp used was November 5, 2018, at 12:27:07 UTC. In other words, all candidates who had CRS scores of higher than 450 and those with scores equal to 450, who also entered the pool of candidates before this time, were issued ITAs.
Now the IRCC has issued a total of 31, 250 ITAs for 2019 which is significantly more than last year’s total during the same time. 2018 broke all Express Entry records by issuing the most ITAs since the system’s creation. Seeing as 2019 is already ahead of 2018, we firmly believe it will be another record-shattering year for this expedited route to Canada.
What Is the Express Entry System?
Canada is in great need of immigrants because its population is declining and there are subsequently simply not enough skilled workers to help the economy grow. For this reason, the government has turned to foreign workers to ensure the country’s future success. The problem with immigration; however, is that it simply takes too long to get newcomers’ documents processed and into the country. The Express Entry system was created to speed up the process and solve this issue. If your application gets processed through this system you should be able to get to Canada in as little as six months!
If you want your application processed through this system, you will have to meet the requirements of one of the three Federal economic immigration programs, namely the Skilled Worker Program, Skilled Trades Program or the Canadian Experience Class. In addition to meeting the requirements and submitting the application, you will have to create a separate online Express Entry profile.
You will be asked to complete a series of questions based on your background including your age, work experience, marital status, language ability, educational background and ability to adapt to Canadian life. It is a simple process used to measure your profile according to the CRS system which assigns your profile a score out of a possible 1,200 points. Once you have been assigned a score, your profile will be entered into a pool of candidates where it will be ranked according to its CRS score. The IRCC then holds regular draws from this pool to invite the highest ranking profiles to apply for Canadian permanent residency.
If you have been issued an ITA, you will be given six months to complete your application. If you do not receive an ITA, your profile will be re-entered into the pool of candidates where it remains valid for one year. You then have the opportunity to improve your CRS score to better your chances of receiving an ITA. Just remember to make the update on your Express Entry profile otherwise, no one will notice.
