When you move to Canada from Nigeria, you will not only change your own life but your family’s lives too.
There are thousands of jobs available to those who are skilled and semi-skilled, and these jobs could be open to your spouse too when you receive Canadian permanent residence.
Canada is set to invite more than 1.2 million newcomers to call Canada home by 2023 (including 401,000 in 2021 alone), and you could be one of them when you apply through one of over 70+ immigration and visa options. The government has had to address the current labour gap by introducing programs such as the PNP (Provincial Nominee Program) and the Express Entry system to not only speed up the application process but to make it more accessible to those interested in relocating to Canada.
If you are successful in your visa application you will receive an Invitation to Apply for permanent residence which means that you will be eligible to receive free healthcare and public schooling for both you and your family. And after just 3 years of living and working in Canada, you and your loved ones could be Canadian citizens.

1. Save on Healthcare. Invest in Education.
By now, you must have heard of Canada's amazing benefits, such as its world-renowned public health care system, which is free of charge to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, or its exceptional education system that is not only ranked among the top educational institutions in the world but your children will be able to receive a world-class secondary education at no cost to you.
By saving on years of secondary schooling and basic healthcare, you will be able to invest in your child’s university education and send them to one of the world’s most highly regarded universities.
2. Study in Canada. Gain Canadian Work Experience.
Did you know that as a graduate of a designated Canadian learning institution you are eligible to apply for the PGWPP (Post Graduate Work Permit Program)? This allows you to gain valuable Canadian work experience in occupations with NOC code A, O, or B and essentially increases your chances of receiving permanent residence in Canada through the Canadian Experience Class by applying through the Express Entry system. After 1 year of work experience, you will be eligible to apply for the CEC and could receive permanent residence in as little as 4 months.
3. Find a Province Where Your Occupation is In Demand. Secure Permanent Residence.
Canada has thousands of jobs available for both semi and highly skilled workers, but the mistake that most individuals make is to apply in areas that are already saturated with skilled immigrants. As a highly-skilled individual, you may have a great chance of receiving an ITA through the Express Entry system however this does not guarantee that you will find a job once you immigrate to Canada.
One of the best ways to immigrate to Canada is to apply for a visa through a Provincial Nominee Program that has an Express Entry category. It is important to ensure that your occupation is in demand in your territory or province of choice. This will increase your chances of receiving a PN (Provincial Nomination) which is worth 600 CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System). Your maximum CRS score is 1200 which means that by having a PN you have already acquired half of the possible points required to receive an ITA.
This also increases your chance of finding a job offer, which is needed to apply through the PNP. The more jobs available, the higher the chances that you will find a job and the higher the chances of receiving permanent residence in Canada.
Another benefit to applying through a PNP with an Express Entry category is that having an Express Entry profile, provinces and territories are able to select eligible candidates from biweekly Express Entry draw pools. This means that your chances to immigrate to Canada are vastly increased just by having an Express Entry profile.
