How Can a Businessman Immigrate to Canada?
There are currently over 45,000 Business manager jobs in Canada and if you have at least 2 years of experience in business management, there are 3 top ways for you to immigrate to Canada.
1. Express Entry
The Express Entry system is not only the fastest, with processing times of as little as 6 months but the most efficient way to immigrate to Canada as a business manager. It an initiative introduced to the Candian immigration system to manage 3 of the federal economic immigration programs and make them more accessible to highly skilled foreign workers applying to immigrate to Canada.
As a business manager, you can either apply through the Federal Skilled Worker Program or the Canadian Experience Class if you have Canadian work experience.
The Express Entry system is a points-based system, which will score you according to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) on factors regarding your age, qualification, work experience, language skills and ability to adapt to life in Canada. Once you have created an Express Entry profile, you will be ranked against others in a biweekly draw pool, of which only the highest-ranking individuals will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for permanent residence in Canada.
2. Provincial Nomination
If for some reason you do not qualify to immigrate to Canada through Express Entry, you could still have a chance of receiving a PN (Provincial Nomination) through one of Canada’s 11 PNPs (Provincial Nominee Programs). In order to receive a PN, which is worth 600 extra CRS points, you will need a job offer valid for at least 1 year’s full-time work.
You will first need to express your interest in a particular province or territory, and if successful you will receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination. It is important to note that processing times for the PNP varies from province to province. If you are applying through an Express Entry linked PNP stream the provincial/territorial processing time is separate from the federal processing time mentioned previously.
3. Start-up Visa Program
Are you a natural-born go-getter with over 2 year’s experience as a business manager? If so, you could be eligible to apply to start your own venture in Canada or invest in an existing Canadian business manager. As long as you meet the basic requirements of business immigration you should be set to start your journey to Canada.
Not only will you need sufficient start-up or investment capital, satisfactory language abilities and enough settlement money but you will also need a letter of support from the designated organization that will be investing in your business manager. And to top things off, each province has at least one or two business immigration streams for you to choose from. Choosing the right location is one of the most important steps in any successful business plan so make sure you do your research before going through with your Canadian immigration application.
This Canadian immigration option does have slightly longer processing time of about 12 to 16 months, but trust us, the returns alone will be worth the wait. And the best part is that you can apply for a temporary work permit while you wait for your application for permanent residence to come through, which means you can get your business up and running sooner rather than later.
