THE APPLICATION PROCESS FOR ONTARIO’S HUMAN CAPITAL PRIORITIES STREAM EXPLAINED
The Ontario government has offered some clarity on the application process for the Human Capital Priorities Stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). There has been some confusion in regards to the application process for the popular immigration stream since it was reopened last month.
The Human Capital Priorities Stream only selects candidates who are in the Express Entry pool and have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores of 400 and above. In this stream, candidates are only allowed to submit an application after being issued a Notification of Interest (NOI) by the province.
However, before this happens the candidate must have an Express Entry profile and be eligible to immigrate to Canada under either the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC) or the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). Further to that, the candidate must satisfy the criteria of the stream, which includes having 400 or more CRS points and indicating that he or she intends to reside in Ontario or is interested in “all provinces and territories.”
The Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) offers clarity on the deadlines for the HCP stream:
- The Notification of Interest (NOI) is valid for 6 months. This means that the candidate must register a profile for the HCP Stream in the OINP e-Filling Portal within 6 months of receiving the NOI from Ontario.
- Once the individual has registered a profile for the HCP stream in the OINP e-Filling Portal, they must complete an application to the HCP stream within 14 calendar days.
