LARGEST EVER EXPRESS ENTRY DRAW, 2,080 CANDIDATES INVITED TO APPLY
For the first time ever, the Express Entry draw has seen the number of Invitations to Apply (ITA) pass the two thousand mark. 2,080 Candidates received ITAs in the draw that was conducted on November 2, 2016. Impressively, the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points limit continues to lower with the latest draw dropping to a requirement of only 472 points.
For the November 2 draw, all the candidates who received an ITA can now apply for permanent residency with the federal government. Candidates have 60 days to submit their applications from the day they receive an ITA. The principle applicants also have the opportunity to include their accompanying partner, common law partner, or dependent children in the application. The government is committed to processing all completed applications within a period of six months.
The Express Entry draw comes two days just after the government announced its immigration plans for 2017, where it aims to bring more economic immigrants into the country. The Canadian government’s Immigration Plan aims to fulfill these strategies especially through the programs that come under the Express Entry program, such as Canada Federal Skilled Class, Canadian Experience Class, and the Canada Federal Skilled Trades Class.
While not being an Immigration Program in itself, Express Entry is a system that the Immigration, Refugees and Citizens Canada (IRCC) uses to select candidates for immigration to Canada through the federal economic immigration programs.
Eligible candidates are required to submit their applications to the Express Entry pool. Depending on their CRS score, the highest ranked candidates are selected on a priority basis through the many draws that are regularly conducted. Candidates who have been issued an ITA have a maximum of 60 days to submit their applications and the government aims to process the applications within six months.
