In the latest draw that took place on 7th September 2016, the number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) which are given to Express Entry candidates for immigration to Canada.
The latest draw has seen the number of ITA’s increase to 1000, this is in contrast to the last 9 draws that each had between 750 and 800 ITA’s issued. Another 750 candidates were invited to apply in another draw that took place two weeks ago.
In order to receive an ITA in the 2016 September, a candidate was required to reach 491 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points as a minimum requirement. This means there is a drop of almost 47 points compared to CRS points required of a candidate in the previous draw.
Although not as significant as some candidates might have wished for, the draw on 7 September was the first time the number of ITA’s issued had breached the 1000 mark. The last time this happened was in April 2016.This latest increase also shows the amount of effort and willingness to issue more ITAs by the Immigration department and the Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), in order to meet the annual intake levels. The annual intake levels were set early this year in order to help the federal economic immigration program, which is responsible for receiving applications of Express Entry.
It is safe to say this might well mean the beginning of a positive trend in the increase of the number of ITA’s to be issued in future draws, a point also raised by one of the IRCC officials at the beginning of this year.
Upon being issued with an ITA, a candidate is within his/ her rights to apply for a Canadian permanent residency. This means that the applicant will be able to move to Canada with family members, dependent children, spouse and even common-law partners.
The Express Entry program is an immigration management system that was created for the federal immigration programs that include: federal skilled workers, federal skilled trades, and Canadian Experience Class.
All eligible candidates are required to submit their profiles to the Express Entry pool, where the Canadian government on a strict priority basis select the highest ranking candidates according to the CRS.
After being given an ITA for permanent residency, candidates have up to two months to submit a complete e-application, the Canadian government is able to process the full application within six months.
