In a draw that took place on February 23, 2017, British Columbia has invited a further 343 candidates to immigrate to the province through the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP). This is the second group of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to be issued in less than a week, the first batch of invitations was issued in a previous draw conducted on February 17, where 459 ITAs issued.
In the latest draw, eight of the ITAs were issued to candidates in the Entrepreneur Immigration Stream. The remaining 335 ITAs were issued across a range of BC PNP sub-categories managed under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS). SIRS is a unique system used to rank and select candidates under certain BC PNP sub-categories.
Some individuals who have been issued with an ITA are now in a position to submit their BC PNP provincial nomination application through one of the enhanced BC PNP sub-categories aligned with the Federal Express Entry selection system. The rest of the remaining candidates will have their applications processed outside the Express Entry system at a federal level.
It is worth noting that an ITA issued under the BC PNP is not the same as an ITA issued through the Federal Express Entry level.
Express Entry BC Stream
This stream of the BC PNP is aligned to the Express Entry system, applications under this stream may also receive priority processing at federal and provincial levels. As a result, individuals in this stream are required to be eligible for one of these three Federal economic programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST).
